Cleaning around vent..

I am getting my bird ready for 4-H, and how can I get the area around his vent cleaned?! It seems impossible!

He is ALL white btw.

I just use dawn dish detergent. some times I use whitening shampoo but you have to be careful not to turn the bird blue
