Chicken Town
I went to check on my chicks a few minutes ago and noticed a lot of them had a brown goop on them.
I think somehow they got some brown substance (maybe poop) all over themselves and it dried on.
What is a good way to clean chicks? It the dustpan way the best?
Thank you! ~Anna

Sounds to me like poop. They walk through it and at this age flop anywhere to sleep and could get it on them that way.

I would make sure you are changing the litter often, make sure the brooder space is large enough.

I raised mine on sand and started that before they were a week old and they started with dust baths immediately.

If you can arrange for a dust bath in the brooder, likely they will take care of the problem.

I wouldn't bathe them, if the dried poop is not causing pecking issues, they'll lose it as they feather out.
