Cleaning Chicken Run

First time having chickens in the coop and have a question regarding cleaning the run underneath the coop. How do I clean this? Do I leave the chicken poop to dry out and decompose or do I through some DE on it to help it compost faster? Right now it is OK but will need to be cleaned at somepoint.

Any suggestions?

I have a sand run, and I rake it a couple of times a weekshovel it up and putin the compost with the wood shavings from the coop that I vacum with the large shop vac I had for my koi pond. Its just too easy. I thought about using the shop vac for the run but I thought I was being just a little too lazy!

The shop vac fits in my little wheel barrel and I just roll to the coop. Boy is the garden going to be good next year, horse and chicken compost!!!
