Does anyone have tips on how to really clean a coop with a chicken wire floor? It is a layer of chicken wire on top of a layer of hardware cloth and tons of poop and hay seems to just get stuck in between. I even tried pulling it out by hand (with gloves) and it wasn't doing much. Any tips?

Thanks!

Wire floor like this?

I lay hay on the wire and I change out as often as needed. I remove the hay, hose the floor down and put in more hay.

The key is to not allow it to go a long time before cleaning it. You have to maintain your routine of removing hay and putting more hay down.

May not be the answer that you are looking for but that's what I do. :/

Thanks for the input! I tried hosing it off and that helped - it didn't get all the hay stuck in between both levels of wire, but it did get a lot of the poop, which is my main concern. Thanks again!

Not a bid fan of mesh floors but you could also use a long handled brush. I would add plenty of bedding as "kuntrygirl" uses to minimize poop on the mesh.

Take the chicken wire off? What size is the hardware cloth?
