cleaning duck eggs

I know this has been addressed before, but I couldn't find the info.
My duck eggs are GROSS. I give them clean straw daily, which they make their nest in and the eggs are always poopy. My friends chicken eggs are nice and clean.
So, what is the correct way to clean the duck eggs for storage for a week or so? I certainly cannot put them in the fridge the way I find them.

if they are for hatching I would maybe take a scrub brush to the outside. I have also heard of people using sandpaper on the hard caked one poo HTH!

If I wanted to clean a hatching egg, I would use Brinsea's egg wash/incubator disinfectant solution.
