I was just curious if anyone after cleaning there pens out disinfects also as in bleaching walls, feeders, ground, and so forth.I am currently turning a big fly pen into a place to grow off some young ones and I have always heard to try not to put young ones were older birds had been housed(I guess for disease reasons?)but anyhow any input would be great!!thanks

If the previous flock was healthy I wouldn't worry too much about it. The big concern in that case would be cocci, but if you make sure to have some corid on hand before you put them on the ground and treat immedietly if you see signs of cocci--fluffed up, lethargic, bloody stool (you don't always see the blood before things get bad) you should be ok. Cocci responds well and quickly to treatment, you just have to keep an eye on things and treat right away if needed.

I raise chicks with the main flock all the time without any problems.
