Cleaning poop boards

I was just wondering how clean do we need to keep our poop boards? We have 3 16"x8' melamine (malmac) boards that we scrape everyday. (The inherited the coop - 8'x8', off the ground - and we have to climb into it to clean it. We needed light weight boards that we could easily pull out without climbing in all the time.) About 3 times a year we pull them all the way out and give them a good cleaning when we clean the coop, but the poop residue sticks to the boards and we have to use paint scrapers to chisel it off and cleanser. (I think it is the calcium in the poop that hardens.) It is a real pain. How clean do the boards really need to be? They don't smell. They look ugly. (white boards)

as long as they stay dry... prob clean it a lot less than you think you would.

Vinegar breaks down calcium. Also helps to remove smells
