So one of my broody hens did not poop outside of the nest box the entire time she was sitting on the eggs. She just backed up a little and let loose. Now her whole back end is a gross mess. Any advice on the best way to go about cleaning her up? She has some chicks under there and I don't exactly feel like it is a sanitary place to be right now! I figured I could probably muddle my way through it, but if there is a way to get the unpleasant task done as quickly and painlessly as possible, I'd appreciate the advice.

I've had to clean poo off of my girls in the winter for whatever reason they got themselves in a mess. I'd put the chicks under a heat lamp for a bit and give mama a bath. Wear gloves so you don't get pecked to pieces. Dry her off well, maybe with a blow dryer and redo the bedding for the chickies.
