Cleaning the wood chips?

So my duck house and pen is located on our wood chips. the ducks love them because they can tunnel under them and get all the yummy bugs. they never try to eat the wood chips. but today i was trying to clean the woodchips and couldn't find an effective way to do it. any ideas? they are covered in duck poo. i took them out and sprayed them, soaked them and did everything i could think of but they were STILL dirty!! i know most of you are going to say, get more wood chips, but it would be easier to clean the dirty ones because we move the house and pen around and soon there will be no clean space.

i dont know how to clean them..but if it were me..i'd get some small landscaping rocks or pea gravel instead of the wood chips. then all you have to do when it gets dirty is hose it down..easy!

My wood chips wind up in the compost. Once you get your compost cooking it can eat an incredable amount of wet chips.
