I change the water in my water containers every day during the summer because it gets a very stale. I usually just wash it with water and a rag and then fill them back up with water. I would like to wash them better at least once a week. What does everyone use to wash them out?

This goes for feeders also. I clean them once a week and then have to let them dry before filling them back up with food.

I never use anything other than rags and a scrub brush to get biofilm off. Feeders do not get cleaned unless they become dirty. I use rubber livestock pans as dishes for all comestibles.

I would be careful with any cleaning agents you use as residues may contaminate their water.

My girls used to get on top of their feeder and mess. I'd have to empty the feeder, wash it and dry it myself with paper towels. I change the water in the waterer twice a day. Once in the morning, and once in the evening. Sometimes more than that if they get it dirty, or if I want to just freshen it when it's hot.

I got a funnel from the auto parts store and trimmed one edge a little to make a pointy cap that fits on the hanging feeder. No more pooping in the feeder! :sick
