Clear corrugated roofing (Suntuf)

I totally agree that we all want our coops to LOOK , plus last and with stand the weather . SUMMER AND WINTER for sure . BUT , we DO NOT have to take out a 2nd. morgage on our homes to supply a good study and predator Proof chicken coop and Chicken Run for our chickens .

Our main concern is building our coop and run sturdy enough since we are in hurricane prone areas .
BUT we can not , NOR will NOT over extend our limits .

We have a 8x12 Coop and a 12 x32 RUN and looks good , its safe and comfortable for our chickens and we did not spend over $500 .

Chickens are safe and happy and that is all that matters !!!!!

Yes, Tuftex, that's what we used. Our coop is located under our deck so we don't have to worry about heat from sunlight but lets in plenty of light.

We used the clear Tuftex Polycarb rippled sheets from Lowes for the roof of our Green House. The "Polycarb" is made for high heat areas and will not warp, twist or fall apart - it is supposed to be 20 times stronger than the regular panels and is guaranteed unbreakable. You can get it in clear, smoked or other colors. I think we paid about $18. a sheet.

We put a thermometer in the coop yesterday. In direct sun under the roof, it was 109 degrees. In the shady part of the coop it was a balmy 95. Outside was only in the high 70s.

We have minimal ventilation and are adding more today. We found an old shutter at the Habitat Re-Store for $1. After taking off the hinge and affixed over a hole horizontally, it's a perfect vent that is predator-safe and can be shut during colder weather.
