I'm looking for some advice. My family is about to move to Wadsworth, OH. They have an ordinance that does not allow backyard chickens. Thankfully, our hens have a temporary home at a friend's farm outside of Chragrin Falls. Do you have any suggestions for us trying to tackle the challenge of changing the city ordinances? I want to give this my best effort so that my beautiful ladies can finally be back at our home where they belong and because they are also 4-H birds for my daughter, so having them close-at-hand makes it so much easier for her to care for them every day and complete her project requirements! Thank you for any advice, suggestions or other knowledge you can share.

All I can suggest is writing a letter, not an email. Depending on how "urban" the property you are buying is, try to convince the city of the benefits of chickens as well as explaining what the chickens are being used for (4-h is an educational program). Also, if you only have 3-4 chickens, that is a lot different than having 10-12, you could explain that they are pets, not a farm or business. Best wishes.
