What climbing vines would be safe for the chickens if planted around the run. I want to block the side of the run towards the road but dont want to make the chickens sick. Please let me know Thank You Clap

We are planting Climbing Spinach, also known as Malabar Spinach. Leaves are edible, vines and bud sets are burgundy. Requires full sun. Grows to a height of 8-10 ft. We got our seeds at a local garden center. The chooks can eat the bottom leaves, we can eat the top, and we will have shade on the west side of the run.

I saw it recommend on BYC. This is will be our first year to try this climber.

Hope you get more suggestions, I'll be watching.

DON'T use trumpet vines, a lot of people are highly sensitive and I wouldn't think they would be edible either.....
grapes probably best...

It really depends on what zone you are in. Grapes are a good option. Since we live in a very temperate region, we have a large climbing rose covering most of the run. Roses are non-toxic and relatively low maintenance in our area.
