clipped my chicken's wings and they still are quite "airborne"

I clipped both sides on my girl's wings last year and it had no effect whatsoever.
Yes, that was mentioned in all the videos I have watched. That if you clip both wings. The chickens can or most likely will develop enough muscled in their wings to be able to fly, again even though they were clipped. If only one wing was clipped. Many can not fly high due to being unbalanced. But with mine. I do not know what I did wrong. LOL Maybe I have Super chickens or some mutants. LOL

I have one Ameraucana, Plymouth, Russian Orloff, and American Bresse.

How old are they? Plymouth Rocks and Bresse should, like my Australorps, be more easily grounded once they're full grown and have put on some weight. I don't know about the others.

Does your fence have a rigid landing surface at the top? Most chickens prefer to land on top of the fence and then fly down rather than going up and over in one leap -- which is why my electric net keeps my ladies in unless they are either startled airborne or strongly motivated. (Not counting the California White, who is a rule unto herself (an amusing chicken and a fabulous layer, but a whole flock of them would drive me insane)).

I've heard of people adding some floppy netting to the top of a rigid fence to keep chickens from getting over.

It is one of that vinyl fences. Smooth and slippery. I think I can put something around there. Just to make sure. Also, my chickens will be supervised while out. They will not be by themselves while out. My chicks were born in Oct. last year.

So under 6 months old then? They'll probably lose a lot of flight capability over the next few months then. :)

You didn't do anything wrong. Chickens can fly, and they can learn to fly with uneven wings. My chickens fly with one wing clipped too.

Short of completely amputating one wing, I don't think it's possible to prevent a determined chicken from flying. The best we can hope for is that they're discouraged from flying too high, or too far.

8 feet tall and she still flys with a clipped wing? Now, THAT'S determination!!! Lol
That girl has a Free Spirit so good for her. Lol. More toys are in order and special privileges too. Lol
Wow, Incredible.
No, :). You took this out of context. This was regarding the circumstances when I am ready to let them out. Right now they are still in their closed run. OMG, if they could fly THAT high I just would give up. LOL
