Clipping a rooster'z spurs???

Oh wow! Those are short and to the point, aren't they!!!

In that case I'd use a file. If a file, like a human nail file, isn't enough, you could try a Dremel with finer sand paper to smooth those points down.
Ditto Dat....just round off the points.

I've always used a sharp, fine-toothed saw like a hacksaw on spurs. If they are long, you can trim the tip and, over time, work your way down. The blood retreats from the end. You can really lessen bleeding this way.

Yep, they are.

This thread moved me to clip Willies 'Big Spur' which very long, curved, and sharp.
The other must have gotten the sheath twisted off somehow, probably on some HC, as it's much shorter.
Am lazy tho and didn't want to wrestle him tonite, so just grabbed the guillotine dog nail clippers and did it while he stood on the roost. Took the very tip/point off the short one and 4 or 5 ~1/16 to 1/8 snips off the long one...no bleeding, didn't risk going too far.
Might do more tomorrow night...gonna be well above freezing.
