We are considering guinea fowl, but only have five acres and I don't particularly want them ranging through the neighbor's crops. If you clip their wings, how high can they jump? Will a normal four foot fence keep them in if their wings are clipped?

I doubt it. they can jump pretty good. I would NOT ever lip their wings because then they cant escape from predators and also guineas won't eat out of your garden and they won't scratch like chickens. I highly doubt you have to worry about them tearing up crops. If you have chickens, they won't leave within a 150 yds from the chicken coop. Also, put a medium sized mirror leaning against something and they won't leave that far from that. They absolutely love to look at their self. I highly recommend that you do NOT clip their wings but it is up to you! Hope this helps!

Interesting about the chickens. I was actually thinking of keeping them in our orchard once we get one, and/or on pasture with the goats. When we get them.

We have lots of plans.

Anyway, I guess I could try a few and if they don't work out so well, they could all meet the dinner table before winter?
