Clipping nails

Does any one clip their flock's nails and how often. We got some younging though the get a couple hours of free range time and spend most of it scratcing on dirt their claws are still sharp.

I have a 2 inch long scratch now because one climb onto my head after I finished doctoring it's cuts

I clip some of my bantams that are in breeding pens. I only do it about every 2 or 3 months.

My chickens nails stay pretty short from all the scratching they do.

No I do not. I think with all the scratching they do in the dirt they don't need it.

My chicken's nails got pretty long in the winter. Now that they are able to go outside again, they are filing them back down. I am thinking that for next winter I will put concrete pavers or some rough surface over part of the coop floor, and toss the scratch grains there = chicken toenail files. Much better/easier than clipping.
