At what age is best to clip the wings. I've read alot about clipping early so they don't try and fly but when is too early and when is right I currently have a 12 week a 8 week a 4 week and a 2 week old chick.

I'm not sure on the exact age. But a good indicator of when to trim is when you start having problems with them flying around. If flying is not a problem don't trim them but if some chickens are getting into places they shouldn't trim one only one wing. In other words if they are old enough to get into mischief they are old enough to get there wings trimmed. But why worry about trimming them if they aren't doing anything?

You can clip a chicken's wing as soon as they have enough feathers to get out of their area. However, if you clip them before they are done with their juvenile molts, the feathers will just grow back quickly. So you'll have to check and clip again pretty often on young birds.

Thankyou. It's more the flying at the kids. It really freaks them out and my 6 year old is petrified of the hens when they fly at him. So just wanted to try and stop this. He loves cuddling them when they are not flying at him

I forgot to keep trimming my peacocks after their first molt, and now I've lost my 6 month old peacock. He flew away, but I grabbed his peahens and clipped their wings, so I'm hoping he will come back someday for his women. Painful lesson in keeping them clipped after molt! Spend days knocking on doors, nobody has seen him in at least a week, and all it took was one door that wasn't latched one time.

Maybe try a netting barrier on that back fence? If they see a really cool tree beyond it, they will definitely try for it. I use turkey tractors for mine, they are juveniles and would absolutely be able to hop over 7 ft despite wing clipping.
