Yesterday we bought three Midget White two-week-old poults. I was watching them this morning, and one of them is having a hard time breathing. I picked her up and found that both of her nostrils are mostly clogged. These are our first turkeys, and we are rather clueless about what to do. Any suggestions on how to help her?

Sorry to hear about your poult. What color is it? They also may be experiencing the onset of respiratory problems. If the nostrils continue to clog, you may have another problem on your hands.

There are several things that you can.

#1
It can be loosened by putting several drops of saline solution in a ratio of 1:500 in grams of sodium chloride per millilitre of water, into each nostril with a dropper or soak a cotton bud in the solution & wipe the nostril clean.

#2
You can spray/sprtiz the nostrils with warm, sterelized water with a very small amount of dissolved salt. This breaks up all sticky mucus.

Good luck and keep me posted.

It is yellowish and powdery looking, kinda like food dust.

When I read powdery and before I read food dust, i thought that it could be food. I think you have your answer. I have a few greedy ones that will have the same thing and it's because they are sticking their beaks deep down in their feed.

Clean them up and see if it comes back.

I just checked her, and both nostrils are mostly clear! All I did was watch and check to make sure she was ok.
