Moxie stated several of my concerns. My first thought was how cool it would be to see a live Wooly Mammoth! Think of what we could learn! But then...will we see the true behavior of that species, or will we see what it learns from elephants? Is there an appropriate environment for the mammoth anymore? Can it live comfortably on today's planet? Will the creature be allowed to have a good life, or will it be tortured and experimented on in the name of science? Will this be a safe procedure for the elephant? There are many concerns, but I have a hard time getting past the excitement of bringing a WOOLY MAMMOTH back! After all, it was driven to extinction by man's actions, not by nature. I would prefer they bring back animals more recently driven to extinction. The Carolina Parakeet gets my vote. Whatever animal they clone, I strongly believe it should be done with the best interest of animals in mind, not with the intention of causing them to suffer.
