I some questions about Cloryza. I have had many of my Chickens get it and also one of my friends. Here are the questions. Do I need to get rid of the flocks? Now that they are carriers will all new birds be infected? Now since they have it will I have
to keep treating? I am just getting into having some chickens this year and he has had them for a couple of years. My breed of chickens is the french black coppers, the french blue copper andcuckoo marans. I am raising as a hobby and maybe sell some eggs to offer some of the feed.I have quite a bit of money in these birds. So I need to start over? All my birds are young. The cuckoos just turned a year and my blues and blacks about 5-6 months and are of the wade jean line.I also have hatched 29and chicks and are worried they will get it?. Will vaccinating help? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Yes to all except your last question. Vaccination is only helpful to uninfected birds. Your current population is comprised of infected birds. If you are going to start selling anything from your flocks you have an ethical responsibility to ensure your flocks are free of disease.

Good luck.

Yes I agree with you about morals and ethics. That is how I ended up with this in my flock. Was from buying the cuckoo marans from a guy and right after I had a hen die. It really made me mad that he sold these to me that way. I know this is how I contracted it. My plan is to gave a boil certified flock until this came about. Thank you for answering.

I am so sorry for your situation. It makes me really angry when people sell sick birds that go on to infect whole flocks.

I hope you can resolve your situation.
