I've only been letting the gals out in the evenings when we're outside. Fenced in area about 1.5 acres, with 3 dogs that help keep predators at bay. Today was way too hot to stay outside. Dogs were liking the AC as much as us. We're sitting inside, soaking up the AC, when the dogs go ballistic. Looked up to see a Redtail hawk flying towards the coop. The dogs seen it too and alerted us to the threat. I quickly let the dogs out and the gals had no clue what was lurking in the trees, no rooster.
They didn't want to go back into there coops, as it's still quite light out, but scratch grains helped get them in there respective coops.
