Hi! We had a close call with some dogs this morning. It appears to be a Husky who is a "neighborhood dog" (no one is really sure whom she belongs to, but someone gets her shots...really friendly, good with kids...apparently likes chickens as well) and a large stray of some kind. I got up and looked out to see what the chickens were up to and saw them. Husband yelled out to them and stray ran, neighborhood dog just looked at us. She eventually wandered on her way, too. They had ripped up a tarp I had down to keep out the rain (big storm last night) and had done a little experimental digging around. I don't think they had been there too long because the chickens weren't really that stressed out. They were apparently waitingfor the dogs to give them a treat like everyone else who visits. (This is one time I was really glad that I have kinda dim chickens) The coop at this point is just 2 16'x5' hog panels attached at the long side and then the sides pulled out to make a triangle. Then chicken wired with a wooden door and chicken wire staked on the other end. Needless to say, the chickens are back to spending the nights on the carport until we can get our brand new electric fence installed! Can't wait to get the "real" coop done and move everyone in!
