Are you looking for an adult or a teen/ kid?

$10 an hour for less than $20 per trip over to your place sounds like not much for someone who has to buy gas... only around $60 for the whole assignment - that wouldn't buy a family of 4 dinner out at Olive Garden.

It'd sound like a lot to a 12 year old kid who is within bicycle distance, but not enough for most responsible adults to make it worth their time for just an 1.5 hour per day temporary (3-4 day) assignment.

It would cost me around $20 per day to board my ONE small dog at the vets full time for a trip away - and that's not having them come to me to take care of my multiple animals - that's boarding in a small cage at the vet's and having someone just checking to make sure they have food and water.

I once contacted someone who does pet sitting (bonded, with references) to come take care of all the critters for us when we were away and was quoted $40 PER VISIT to just feed and water and collect eggs - no 'farm maintenance' - and it takes me less than one hour per day to do all the feeding up here.

Just sayin'...

Yes, we are looking for someone local. Experience doesn't matter, but it's a plus. They will be given detailed instructions. It will be an extremely easy job... feed and water the chickens, gather the eggs, check that the fence charger is working.

10$ an hour will not cover the gas to get somone to drive over there for 1 or 2 hours a day.

If you find somone- plz hook me up to -

I was thinking it was $10 a hour every hour that they were gone as a farm sitter would technically have to live there and babysit the farm.

i dont know that i would be advertising for a farm sitter. at least around here, i might as well just put a notice in the paper that i'm going to be gone for a few days and for everyone to come help themselves to my stuff. even the people who apply could decide they werent available to work after they get youre information and show up while your gone...
just saying.

i would suggest getting a local farmy type teenager you could "train" a few days and make sure they are competent enough to leave in charge.

Ok, you know what? Please close this thread. I'm just looking for someone to watch my farm while we are gone on a much needed, long awaited vacation.
