Clostridium and length of treatment with Tylan 200

The timing of the new bag coincided with the start of the Tylan 200. They have been improving gradually, there are normal droppings, but they are smaller than they used to be. I think that tomorrow I will put paper down under the roost.

Just to make life more interesting, one of my hens has bumblefoot! I had her in a crate to break her broodiness, and when I took her out she was walking strangely, checked her feet et voila! I'm going to try PRID drawing salve and see how that works out. Not ready to do a surgery yet...

It is always best to confirm what you are treating with a lab test, if available, so you are not using antibiotics unnecessarily. Antibiotics can cause diarrhea, so best to give them probiotics if not already in their feed, or some probiotic plain yogurt with cultures mixed in feed. Probios is usually available at most feed stores. Tylan is normally used for 5 full days, but I would also check with @casportpony or PM her.
I have been giving them probiotics since Monday. They always have Organic ACV with the mother in their water.

My flock of 11 showed signs of clostridium perfringens, droppings were water with a few bits of green. It started with 1 hen, but by the time I figured out what it was several more were infected.

I have been giving them Tylan 200 orally twice a day.

They have completed a 5 day course and are showing improvement. Their droppings are becoming normal, but still not completely normal.

Should I continue the Tylan 200 until the droppings are normal, or can I stop it now and the improvement will continue? I am worried about having to start all over, and also that the bacteria will become resistant.

I'd appreciate any input! :bow
Not bad chicken run. It only needs a row of very inexpensive 12X12" pavers around the parameter so predators do not dig under the walls.
