Cloudy Days in the Coop - My Adventures with Chickens.

Pics
This morning, as I made my way down to the coop, I knew that the summer weather was coming to an end. Though still fairly warm out (50 degrees Fahrenheit ), it’s cooling down. Clouds have been here for a few days, with sprinkles of rain here and there, but now the rain has truly begun. Slightly windy, when I let the chickens out of their coop, the younger pullets looked slightly discombobulated. The older hens, on the other hand, barely seemed to notice, as they’ve experienced this weather quite a lot. After grabbing a bite to eat, they marched out of the run to free-range, Yuki at the lead. The older ones knew where to go. To the forest, where bugs are aplenty and their feathers less likely to get wet. Kiki and Minnie followed them. Boba and Mochi, however, stayed under the coop, not wanting to risk wet feathers. :D

Beautiful photos! 💖 So is winter your rainy season?

Fall, Winter, and Spring are all what I call rainy season. Then Summer you have a little bit of rain, but mostly it's warm and sunny. :) Most of the time, rain, where I am, is just a steady drizzle with some breaks and occasional storms. :) And thanks!
I just read your post to the hubby, he can't wait to get up there. :D (He has skin cancer and the sun is his enemy.) How is the pollen up there?

Pollen isn't that bad, really. It kind of depends where you are in Washington. Where I am, there is about one week of bad pollen, and then there's just a little bit here or there. :) Seattle area barely gets any sun, by the way. :D. On a good year, you see the sun 135 days out of 365 days.

Wow, one week of pollen? We are lucky if we get one week of no pollen! :gig Your cloudy days sound lovely, we have 300 days of searing sun a year, we are ready for some cloudy rainy days. This has fired up the hubby and now he really wants to move up there. :D

Enjoy this day with your birds! Any sign of the hawk today?

It's a pretty lovely place up here. :) 300 days of sun? That sounds both impressive and terrifying. (Summer's end, I'm ready for the clouds to come back. Don't love the sun :D)

I will! I heard the hawk fairly far off in the forest today, but only once. Obviously, my chicken coop isn't that far for it to fly to, so I put my chickens in the run again. I think I may have found a hole it could have gotten through, so I secured the bird netting a little more. :)
