Cloudy Days in the Coop - My Adventures with Chickens.

Pics
It's a pretty lovely place up here. :) 300 days of sun? That sounds both impressive and terrifying. (Summer's end, I'm ready for the clouds to come back. Don't love the sun :D)

I will! I heard the hawk fairly far off in the forest today, but only once. Obviously, my chicken coop isn't that far for it to fly to, so I put my chickens in the run again. I think I may have found a hole it could have gotten through, so I secured the bird netting a little more. :)
I too don't like too much sun, the light is just too intense for my mental health. :D

Yes when in doubt, keep the chickens safe. Glad you found the place the hawk may have gotten through and patched the area, definitely gives you peace of mind knowing they are safe!

I went to check on the chickens, and it appears that Boba decided that on a stormy day like this, what better thing to do than get comfortable in the dry coop and go broody? This is her first time broody, and it's actually quite adorable, her fluffy body stretched out over two of her eggs. Unfortunately, I don't have any eggs that she can hatch, but maybe someday I'll let her hatch her own clutch. :)

Awww....look at the love there! Just adorable!! :love

Kiki:
Kiki is my Cukoo Marans. While she’s not one for being held, she’s still one of the first ones to run up and greet me. Just recently beginning to lay, her eggs are a beautiful dark brown. She, like Minnie, is about 7 months old. She really is delightful, taking anything as a challenge she’s ready to face, be it a new treat or figuring out a way to sneak into the garden. She loves cooked oatmeal, but only gets it on special occasions. Though she’s a very brave chicken and strong chicken, she seems perfectly content being near the bottom. Thankfully, most of the others don’t seem to bother her.

As you can see, Minnie and Kiki are almost inseparable! They never seem to leave each other!
This one had me confused for a moment -- like, Texan chickens? Kiki? What?

Beautiful flock, Starburst!

Well, the rain has picked up to a storm. The rain should hopefully help with the fires, but it’s turned parts of my forest into streams and puddles! I need to remember to add more drainage to the chicken run. As you can see, it’s getting pretty wet. :)

We haven't seen a puddle like that in years! :D Beautiful photo, water definitely gets into places it shouldn't.

Hopefully, you'll get a nice amount of rain soon! (If you want a lot of rain, that is. :D) Agreed about the water. I often wonder how long it'll take before everything is covered in an inch of water or more!
