My birds don't live in the coop yet. They're moving out to it on Sunday. I handle my birds multiple times daily and I always check them for parasites/injuries/disease. They're in my garage right now, so they're pretty "clean" still. I'm just nervous for when they go outside. Sounds like the clover mites aren't going to be a problem though, so that's a relief.Have you checked your birds especially at night to be sure they are mites. If they are mites most likely if they are on the birds you would see them. I use a head light so I have my hands free.
My coop and run are totally enclosed. No animals can get in. Only outside stuff that can get in are bugs that crawl through the fencing, or if birds poop while flying over the wire roofed half of my run and the poop lands in there.Wild birds can introduce the not so good mites. Sometimes they are pretty hard to see. I had an infestation in one coop last year so now I'm paranoid. I spray my coops pretty regular now.
Just the apple after they were gone, but it was FULL of them! There wasn't hardly anything left of the apple but the peel. I imagine they must have pooped in it and stuff. So gross.Spider mites get their name from the webs they build.
Did grandpa eat any earwigs, or just the apple after the earwigs fled? Was he weird in other ways?![]()

No, he wasn't weird in other ways. Even this wasn't really that weird if you knew him. He grew up in the great depression and didn't believe in wasting anything, especially food.I guess when you grow up starving even an earwig apple is good food. I'm so thankful the standard of living has improved since then.
That being said, apparently the meat that is in canned soup is even worse. Grandpa always said he wouldn't even feed it to a dog.
I miss him a lot. He was a funny guy and a really hard worker. Admirable man.
It would be cool if we were related. XD
Yeah, my grandparents didn't believe in bruised/old fruit either. Banana could be pure brown, and strawberries all mushy (that stage they hit right before being moldy) and they'd eat them anyway
I agree with him too. Won't touch the stuff. I eat around it and throw it away.
He was a really joyful person. I've never heard anyone just walk around their house singing (and singing well at that). He was special.
