She kept a keen eye on Fett ahead of them, in case the large buck decided to try anything ‘funny’. She was sure Caspian would bolt for the prairie if Fett attacked.

Caspian hopped behind her, his dopey ears flopping from side to side. He noticed a rabbit hop up beside him and more join them from the wood. At one point Fett wheeled around and grabbed a young buck that had joined them by the throat. He whispered something into the bucks ear and he replied in a quiet, strangled answer. Fett released him and the buck ran up ahead of the group. Caspian gulped and walked a little closer to Vetch.

After a few minutes Fett led them into a large clearing covered by a thick network of tree branches above them. Few rabbits hopped about and those that did quickly ran into their burrows at the sight of them. Waiting for them in the middle of the clearing was a huge doe. She glared as they approached. Fett stopped and pushed a few rabbits out of his way, motioning for Vetch and Caspian.

Caspian waited to see what Vetch would do.

Reynard gave a yelp of pain and toppled over backwards. "I can't help it!" He growled, rolling to his feet, " A fox has gotta eat! I'd much rather have rats or squirrels, even mice would be good right now." He sat back on his haunches and stared at them with a level gaze. "Know of any around? What are you two doing out here anyway?" ...
