Hello! I'm a new chicken mom from the Utah desert. Thanks for having me!
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes! I got my first chicks 8 weeks ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 7 chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Barnevelder, Cream Legbar, Olive Egger, White Crested Blue Polish, & D'Uccle!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So far, I love watching them grow and seeing their funny personalities develop. I also have enjoyed preparing their living quarters & learning many useful tips off of this site!
(*) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this site late one night, while in a frantic Google search, during the first week of chicken keeping. I was searching how to care for pasty butt. I followed the advice, and luckily that cleared up after the first week.
Here is one of our D'Uccles, named chicken nugget, when her feathers started coming in at 2 & 3 weeks old we were so thrilled and surprised she was a frizzle...Then, at 5 weeks we realized SHE was in fact, a HE!
