In the Brooder
Just ordered a chicken coop and run for our riverside garden. We're new to chicken keeping and we're going to start with 3 Sussex or similar depending on what the local chicken market has on offer on 20th of this month.
We're based in France where keeping a few hens appears to be the norm.
The idea is to keep our Chambre d'Hôte (bed and breakfast) supplied with eggs but also to have some feathery pets. They will have names and we aren't planning on any ending up in the pot - we may have a retirement coop though
We have a history (way back) in farming so know the basics around hygiene, worming, vaccination, disease etc but we're sure to have many dumb questions on keeping the girls happy.
