Hi, thanks for the add!

First time owner here from the city of South Bend. I moved from a more rural part of Virginia on a half acre where you needed 5 or more acres to have farm animals and was surprised to discover that anyone can own up to 6 hens in South Bend as long as you have the space for a proper sized coop and run.

This made me so happy as I have always loved animals and wanted to add chicken layers/pets to my menagerie. Since last fall I have done a ton of research of what I need to do and have ready for 6 chicks, great information here on BackYard Chickens, on FaceBook groups, the Chicken Chick site and others.

I decided on large gentle breeds and ordered 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Australorp, 1 Salmon Faverolle and got 1 Mystery chick who appears to be a RIR, and 3 EE'ers, The first batch arrived last Tuesday and the other 3 will come this week.

LOVE them so much, they are so funny! I already have a shed that I'm converting into a coop; and have the supplies to build the run - it just needs to stop raining so I can work on it.

Anyway, happy to be here and will post if I need any questions answered!

Here's what I think is the RIR, she's the boss so far, but not mean.
