I would love bees just don't have any idea where to start... and I should probably get my feet on the ground a little with chickens before go on any more adventures

I don't know if I'm gonna raise bees, but I'd sure love to learn more about them! And yeah, get on to chicken keeping before you start bees. (Chicken keeping is WELL WORTH IT as far as I'm concerned. )

that's a swarm, usually you can hive a swarm without having a beesuit. swarms are when the bees are their gentlest

Wow, I didn't know any of that. I was just finding a scary picture. Sorry if I offended you or something. I thought it was bees covering a hive. Silly me.

no offense at all just letting you know. i don't find bees scary at all after having them for a year. i went out to my hive today and sat about 3 feet from the entrance and just watched my bees fly in and out. one even landed on my arm, i just kept still and she flew off to the hive

yes, they only attack if they feel threatened or are defending their home. I have carnolian crosses, they are European honey bees, and carnolian is just a strain. they are very gentle and i enjoy them a lot. I have had wasps land on me and not get stung simply cause i froze and didn't move
