Clueless about nesting boxes?

My hens are about 16-18 weeks old and have shown no interest what so ever in the nesting boxes. They haven't even explored them out of curiosity since we put them in their coop WEEKS ago...will this change? I plan on putting a fake egg in the boxes...I've been told that might help.

The fake eggs will help. Have they started laying yet? Ours were 2 months overdue until one laid…..

well tonight there is a dust storm outside... the chickens don't really have a protective coop. it is only a roofed area with 2 boxes
