Clueless breeders (rant)

Well, here's why I said that...
In my most humble opinion (

), any time animals are being sold in "impulse buy" situations, there is a greater risk that they may not be cared for as well, or that they are being sold to people who don't know what they are doing, and that the sellers are not giving the new owners proper information. In these sorts of fair and flea market situations, I think it should be mandatory that a humane officer visits regularly. If there truly is nothing wrong, that's great.
I most certainly was not making any sort of comment at all about the inability to speak English, which has nothing to do with anything. I did have concerns about the puppy area being dirty (..."the smell was horrid"). That's not OK.

I am seriously just curious here, but what exactly in the original post sounds like a case for a cruelty officer? I mean, last I checked, the inability to speak English and lack of knowledge of breeds is not cruelty, which seem to be the primary complaints. The puppies were in air conditioning (bad smell aside) and while it was said that nothing was "super healthy" I just didn't see anything that indicated cruelty.

I would also like to hear facts other than the country of origin or mother tongue before I cast dispersions. I pride myself at being level headed and not drawn into irrational, lower nature based thinking.

There is a strong anti immigrant movement in the country fueled by fear and intolerance. I have no parts of this type of thinking.

Every animal shelter, groomer or pet shop I have ever entered smells like one in the pet holding area, because animals always poop and urinate. And in Texas heat, I am sure it will wreak. Mixed breed animals need homes too and someone has to sell them. Why not join in and sell some of your own there to get a closer investigative look. Perhaps then one might develop a more complete appreciation of the situation. Or at least a complete understanding of the circumstances.

At the end of the day, I am sure that opinions of some will never be based on facts but on subtler issues that color and flavor the emotions, feelings and one's rationalization or "thinking". That I am sure will never change because we too are just animals.
