My California White girl went broody mid summer so we got a couple fertilized Bantam eggs from a neighbor and she did her thing. First time I’ve had a broody and first time hatching eggs.
(Awesome )
Four eggs. Three babies. One died first day. So final results: two babies. They are now 7 weeks old. I’m pretty sure one is a rooster based on the comb but I’m unfamiliar with roosters, and bantams. The other one looks much different but I’m not certain if male or female. They’ve started doing this thing where they hunch down, square up and go beak to beak, neck feathers standing up, and jump up belly to belly at each other. They go five or six rounds like that. Are they just playing? I have seen the suspected roo try to jump on the back of the other chick. Chick 2 wasn’t having it and they circled a bit until Chick 2 jumped on suspected roo’s back, who then ran to momma.
