Co-op direction

A shed is my coop. Ok wanting to make it a fresh air coop, but don't know which side to open up.
My coop: front of building faces West. Which is facing the lake, which mostly has a steady breeze...most of the time. The run and coop door are on the south side up against another shed that protects it from the evening sun. The North and easy sides are solid. The front door, which faces West is closed most of the time because i havent put a screen door up yet. There are vents, but to my liking not enough. The entire area is shaded, but I need to know which side of the coop to open up.

That's a pretty good description missy. Without seeing it, I would put a big window or two on the east wall. That way you'll catch the morning sun to extend the day length for them (egg production).
Chickens are outside during the day so any other direction won't add light or increase day length.
You may not need to modify the west door. Prevailing winds in this hemisphere come from the west so for most storms, that can keep the wind and rain out.

That's great news, and less work for me!although that screen door I think should go in on the west side to allow for more air and breeze to come through. Although the fact that the shed is tin, the only side I worry about getting to got is the west side. Any suggestions?

I think having a screen or hardware cloth door is a great idea, but I wouldn't lose the solid door for nighttime predator protection or storms. I'd just add an additional door.

The last buildings I've built have huge openings (about half the wall) on both West and East walls. The breeze blows right through year round.
