I have 4-6 month old pullets and 3-4 week old chicks kept separately. We’re in the height of the rainy season in South Ga. I lost 4 chicks last week to what I think is a cocci - bloody poop, lethargy, hunched posture, ruffled feathers. I started treated with Corrid last week for both my littles and my older pullets because I noticed diarrhea and bloody poop with the older pullets too. The little chicks were almost all well for 24 hours but then the next morning they had bloody/diarrhea poo again. My sickest pullet seemed to be doing better But then I found bloody pop in their run yesterday. I have 17 older pullets and 2 Roos. I don’t know who is sick and I can’t catch them to give them drops like the little ones. Any suggestions on catching them to do drops? Or other things I can treat for? I have the 9.5 % solution and I was giving 2.5 ml to the baby chicks (quart) and 10 ml for the older ones (1 gallon watered). The chicks have 1 drop orally two times a day. This is my first flock so any advice or help would be appreciated.

Can you post photos of the chicks and poop?

Your dosing of Corid is correct.
Are you adding any extra vitamins or supplements to the water or to individual birds?

Sometimes the strains of Coccidia that cause the bloody stool are not as affected by Corid, so you may need to use a Sulfa Drug (like SMZ-TMP) or Toltrazuril instead.

Can you post a picture of the exact bottle of Corid you have?

Are you giving any vitamins to your flock?

Thank you so much for this link - I couldn’t figure out where to buy it. I’ve ordered it.

I’m attaching now. I’m not giving any vitamins unless it’s in their feed. I’m getting some for after they’re well for B. I checked for B vitamins and it looks like their feed does not have any. I had been mixing in a little apple cider vinegar just the past 2 days but stopped doing that today. Tonight I saw more diarrhea in my older pullets, only one with blood, which is better (blood wise), but worse (total amount = more sick).

The chicks were looking better tonight but I did notice a greenish hue to their poop today? This is new - could this be from apple cider vinegar? I put a little in their water the past 2 days, but stopped today. One of the chicks is not as active or growing as well as the others so I am keeping a close eye on it. It’s the first such behavior in several days. Activity levels were much better for the chicks.

I got the Toltrazuril yesterday and switched them to that but today the older ones have bloody poop again. Do I give them both the corrid and the Toltrazuril together?
