Coccidiosis Help!

Hi Kathy;

I recently found out about the Baycox, Coccidia medication, as one of my goats periodically suffers Coccidosis. Reports and studies show its superiority to Corid, as it's a one day treatment and eliminates all octocyst shedding, which is how it spreads. Research shows Baycox to be far gentler on the system. In fact claims not to effect at all the host animal tissues. I found the Prerace site for my goat, but there is also a Baycox Chicken on Farm Advisor.

After the stress of this is past, perhaps we could talk about how I could aquire one of your barred Muscovies.

Baycox is amazing, and I got mine at the same place you found yours. I use the 5% for the chicken, but I do give it with a bunch of fluids. I'll send you a PM about the Muscovy's

I have a quick question. It is suppose to get really hot this week and we usually put ice cubes in the water to cool all the girls down during the hottest part of the day. Is this okay to do with the medicated water? I didn't know if the ice cubes would interfere with the effectiveness of the medication.

There is lots of info on diagnosing coccidiosis and then treatment. But what does recovery look like? How do I know if she is getting better? I estimate we are on day 6. She is not standing. Sleeps most of the time. I am using a towel to keep her from falling on side. She eats for a minute and then sleeps. She can move around, especially after pooping (she doesn't like it near her). Sometimes she moves with a lot of peeping? Is she in pain?

What does recovery look like?

Thanks
Marlene
