Yesterday i had a duck come out of the pen in the morning unable to walk. Also had a wobbly hen. Took my duck to the vet and they found she has coccidiosis. Took fecal sample back from my wobbly hen and she has it, too. They gave me albon to treat my other 9 ducks and the hen i brought inside the house. Will be going to the feed store momentarily to buy Corid to put in the water for my other hens. Will also take a fecal sample in from my geese and praying they don't have it also.

Questions, my vet was unclear on how to eradicate it from the environment. What i read online was extreme cold and high heat will kill it. But, not sure simple warm weather will make a dent. Is there any way to remove it from the dirt? Or will treating all the animals help them develop immunity to this particular strain.

i read there are 9 different strains of cocci. On one website, someone stated they know they have two particular strains in their soil. Where does one get a soil sample tested?

Another question is have is, after treatment, will the birds continue to shed the cocci? In other words, will they be cured but carriers?

Last question, i have read that one should supplement their birds with additional Vitamin A and K while treating. But have not been able to find any dosage information. Does anyone know how much to dose with?

Thanks in advance for any answers or suggesions, or personal experiences that might help me get through this.
