coccidiosis vs cecal cell shed

Hello!

My husband and I got some little Silkies this past weekend. They are a cute little bunch full of energy and appetite.
This morning when taking them out of the holding cage we have them in to put them outside, I noticed that some of the stool appears to be bloody. After reasearching I saw it could be either coccidiosis or cecal cell shed. How do I know the difference?
I am trying not to worry that they are sick.

One picture may be shed but the other two pics have blood. I would start some Corid right away. It is found in feed stores cattle section, and comes in liquid or powder. Add 10 ml (2 tsp) of the liquid per gallon of water for 5-7 days as the only source of water. You may also give some undiluted Corid as a boost to a really weak chick (0.1 ml per pound) twice a day for a couple of days. If using the powder, dosage is 1.5 tsp per gallon.

Welcome to BYC! That is blood so you should treat for coccidiosis with amprolium (Corid), a sulfa drug, or toltrazuril (Baycox).

I also noticed that there are oats in the cage. Do you also feed them chick starter and chick grit?

We have them in a cage until we can build their coop this weekend.
We feed them the attached pictures. They also go outside in a cage we have for them for a few hours a day where they pick at the grass and dirt.
I believe they are six weeks old. I have also attached a picture of them.

I agree with Casportpony and Eggcessive. Get them on Corid right away and feed your Silkies chick starter and provide grit. Corid can be found in the cattle section at your feed store.
