coccidiosis and nearly every other ailment known to chooks can be prevented with cider vinegar added to the drinking water. I don't want to eat any coccidiostats, antibiotics or other junk in my eggs and chicken meat so I buy purely organic grain with no additives. I also make sure my poultryhouses aren't overcrowded and since I started this regime I can honestly say I haven't had a sick bird. Don't ask me what ratio vinegar to water I use because I don't know! I just put about a tablespoon to half a gallon maybe - usually just a good slosh in the trough. regards to all the chicken fans out there from New Zealand. Incidentally, are there any other N.Z. members?
