Coccidious...treating since Sunday, they are still dying... :(

Thank you Centrarchid they are out and free ranging today. Its in the 20's and with the mess I made of the snow cleaning the coop on Friday, they have plenty of roaming room on top of the snow, keeping away from each other. But I will continue to keep a close eye on them.

Kathy, I won't do anything drastic yet.

If all of their poop has blood in it it could mean that the problem is in the main part of the intestine, not the cecal pouches, but if the cecal poop is bloody, and the others aren't, it could mean the problem is in the cecal pouches. Note that I said "could", not is. :D just trying to think of ways to narrow down what's going on with your hens.

White leghorn, she was bloody yesterday, that why I paid for the online vet-- 3 leghorns, 1 golden Wyandotte, 1 Road Island Red and a Red Sex Link were bloody. I took the worst one in the house, the picture I posted previously. The leghorns all look like this today, no fresh blood. Nothing like my RSL in the house, actually none of the outside hen's looked like that anymore.

While leghorn poo:

and here is the Golden:

and her poo:

while I was out there I took a picture of the window...the wind blew the grain bag off this one.

and here is one with the grain bag:

and finally can you tell me what this chicken is doing? She did this for a few minutes even before I started filming...

So TSC didn't have any Tylan/VetRx or Probiotics...well, they had Tylan, but it was 200 mg and injectable, so I ordered it all from Amazon and paid for 1 day shipping, which was only an extra $10 with my Prime membership. It will all be here tomorrow due to the holiday.

I spent the whole day outside with the girls, I scraped all the poop off the roost, made a poop hammock out of grain bags and made new "basket" nesting boxes, something I saw on pinterest. I also hung the scratch feeder because I just don't want them scratching for scratch in the litter anymore.
I also made a dust bath, with the suggested winter fill.... I actually had one of those metal wash tubs that I used to store winter hats, gloves and scarves by the door. No one has used it yet. Hopefully they will figure it out.
They jumped on my shoulders and pecked at the screws all day long...so nosey!

I didn't see much bickering or hen pecking, a few squabbles over the new baskets as everyone took turns checking them out. As far as temperament, poo and diet, I only stuck to regular layer mash with some cat food mixed in as the vet suggested. They were all eating and drinking as normal. No one seemed to be "lonely" or hiding in the corner to get away from anyone anymore. I didn't see any signs of diaharrea. I think we maybe getting better and with the addition of the Tylan and VetRx the girls should be good to go. How long should I treat with Tylan and then what is the withdrawl period for the eggs? Can I feed the eggs to my dogs? Speaking of eggs, I got 14 today. So thats good.

The hen in the house seems to be improving as well, eating and drinking is almost back to normal. She is not actively bleeding today AND best of all, semi solid poo!!!

No eggs yet....hoping to put her back with the flock tomorrow after everyone goes to sleep. I wouldn't want her picked on as a new hen to the flock, so I'll sneak her back in under the cover of night.

I cannot thank everyone here enough, you really and truly helped.
