Hi everybody.
New chicken mama here. I got my girls around 10 weeks old and now they're about 26 weeks old (we're guessing. One of my orps just started laying.)

However, I've got one dark brahma that I'm concerned about. She started acting differently around 2 and a half weeks ago. She was getting bright green fecal material stuck on her rear feathers and she was keeping her head and neck very tight to her body. At that time, I was going to leave for vacation so I couldn't do much about it other than add corrid to the water.

When I got back, not much had changed. She didn't improve or worsen. So I decided to give her a dose of corrid straight into her mouth. It help immensely with the stool and she hasn't gotten any more stuck on herself. It looks much more normal now as well. She's still acting very uncomfortable though. She's got her head still held very close to her body and she doesn't try to interact with me as much as normal. My chickens are very friendly and she just tries to avoid me now. It also feels as if she's lost weight. I can feel her breastbone much more sharply. She eats and drinks fine. Maybe not as excessively as normal but... at this point I'm not sure what else I can do for her other than continuing to treat them all with corrid in the water.

It's been 4 days since I gave her the direct dose of corrid. I don't want to give her more because I'm paranoid about how much she should be getting of that stuff... but I'm just not seeing any improvement in her behavior...

Help???

I just had a coccidia outbreak in my flock kill a 7 week old bantam and almost kill one of her sisters. Like you I gave a dose directly by mouth but I was seeing a dramatic turn around in 48 hours. Since she is small I just gave her a few drops by mouth but keep up the corid in her water as well. If you are using the suggested dosage it won't hurt her

1) Is it possible that she is egg bound? Does she stand like a penguin? Is she squatting and straining on occasion? You say she has watery green feces and that makes me wonder if she doesn't have an egg stuck up there. Get some rubber gloves and KY jelly, Lube your finger and her vent up good and insert your finger gently into her vent and feel for an egg. You won't have to go too far in, about a half an inch or so. If you feel an egg, then you need to give her a warm bath with the epsom salt and get some calcium down her. You can crush a human calcium tablet dissolve it in water and use a dropper to give it to her.

2)If not an impacted egg, I would gather a stool specimen, contact a vet and see about getting a float test done so you can see what is plaguing her beside possible coccidiosis.

When all is said and done, you are trying to solve a mystery and are on a quest gathering clues to try and solve the problem of what is plaguing your girl.

Sorry you haven't gotten more responses. Maybe @Wyorp Rock or @casportpony will check in with some ideas. Sure hope you get this figured out and your pullet feeling better.:hugs
