The best thing you can do as a preventative for your flock is good husbandry. As long as they have a good diet and a clean living environment, their immune systems should be able to handle it.

A couple things you can do to boost their immune systems is adding apple cider vinegar to their water and providing fermented feed. The fermented feed has probiotics that will outcompete the coccidian.

Also, when she got antibiotics for the bumblefoot, it would have killed off a lot of the good bacteria in her gut and caused some loose droppings, and a perfect environment for the cocci to take over. Best thing would be to get her gut repopulated with good bacteria...

You make it! If you do a search on here for fermented feed, there is a ton of information.

Basically though, you add water and a splash of apple cider vinegar to the feed that you are using now. Let it sit overnight, or a couple nights if it's cold, making to stir a couple times a day. Should smell kinda like sourdough. Take out what you want to feed to your chickens, leaving at least a little bit in the container (to kickstart the next batch), and add more dry food/water.

They eat less, it's healthier, and it reduces the smell in their poo. A little bit of effort but once you get it into your daily routine, it's pretty simple.

I just looked up probiotics and the chicken chick had a probiotic she recommended that's a powder that was only $9 so I ordered that off of Amazon. I was going to add that to their water do you think that I can make the fermented Feed and just sprinkle some probiotic into the Feed as well? All of my other chickens are doing great they're poop looks good its firm they're not having signs and symptoms but I figured if I'm going to treat her I might as well treat the whole flock

Yea, I don't think that will hurt. Might even give the stuff in the fermented feed a boost.

I know a lot of people would disagree, but I don't believe it's a good idea to treat the whole flock when just one chicken is sick. You know all those medicine commercials where they list a bunch of side affects that are sometimes worse than the original ailment? We usually take the medicine we need and deal with the side affects, because well we need the medicine. You wouldn't just take blood pressure medicine as a preventative though would you? It would probably make you feel a hell of a lot worse and I think the same goes for when you give a healthy chicken medicine it doesn't need. And they can't tell you how they are feeling or if they are having any of those weird side affects.

I guess so bUT I'm going to err on the side of caution and treat them all. I think it's only for 5 days so that's good. Some say 7 but I have seen 5.
The pullet and rooster have medicated chi k feed already so they will be omitted from treatment

So I did corrid for 6 days and my girl still has loose stool. I called vet and they have tablet to give that will take care of it. I wonder if I should separate her from the rest of the flock for a bit? None of the other chickens are having loose poop or any other signs and symptoms of a coccidosis infection.
