My 3-4 month pullet developed coccidosis recently. She does not move very much and sleeps a lot. I haven’t seen her eat or drink on her own in over 24 hours. I have been giving her water with Corid and nutri drench with a dropper. I also took some of her food and saturated it a little bit so when I put it in her mouth she eats it instead of spiting it out. I feel that her crop has stuff in it. How long will this last? Please give tips.

Nutri drench defeats the purpose of Corid... NO vitamin supplement during treatment... As Corid mimics thiamine to starve out and slow the growth of the coccidia... It does NOT actively kill them.

Give her a direct dose of the Corid to her beak, if she isn't drinking she also isn't being treated.

Don't worry about feed... she won't starve to death overnight but dehydration is deadly fast...

Direct dose at least once and then get her to drink the corid water every hour or so until you see improvement.

Make sure you are using the treatment dose and not the preventative dose.

How recently did she develop symptoms? Can you post a picture of her?
It would be better to drench her directly with 9.6% Corid using 0.1 ml/pound of body weight for 3 days. Keep the Corid water (mixed at 2 tsp. per gallon) available to her as well for 7 days.

I have given her drops of Corid and I have been making sure she drinks water very often. Something had told me to use nutri drench or electrolytes, but had I know it was affecting her getting better I wouldn’t of used it. Thank you for the great information!

Definitely don't use the Nutri-drench while giving Corid. It negatively affects the way the Corid works to clear the coccidia overload.
I would also offer probiotics in the feed. Try giving her a scrambled egg mixed with water to make it a bit soupy. If she'll take that, you can make a mash of some of her feed and mix that in with the soupy egg mixture.
Good luck.

We naturally want to do everything we can to support their own immune system. :thumbsup This just happens to be one of the times it works the opposite. We all do our best until we learn something different.

Nutri drench is a great and very useful product most of the time. Wouldn't hurt to give it once you are done with this treatment.

I would expect to see some improvement within a couple days if not sooner. :fl

Thanks, I’ll try the egg mixture.

She sleeps like this all day. She opens her eyes when I come near her. When I pick her up she opens her eyes and holds her head up for a bit, then goes back to sleep. She’s not looking good, but believe it or not I have seen a tiny improvement. She opens her eyes sometimes when she hears wild birds singing

Have you drenched her yet? She is in bad shape.
