Hi all

I was convinced both of these were roos, but not so sure now. They are 3 months old. White one is confirmed as he has started crowing. The black/brown one is not crowing and has a less red comb and wattles so am now wandering if it might be a hen. Any ideas?

Looks like a cockerel to me. Even at that age, pullets will have a tiny pale pink comb. A pullet comb only starts growing and getting it’s colour when they start laying. He might just need more time to grow into himself or he’s just the submissive cockerel.

I'd agree that both are cockerels. Are you sure the lighter colored (possibly splash, not white) one is a Cochin? That stance and the lightly feathered legs makes me think Langshan instead of Cochin.

I got Cochin, Lavender Orpington, and Wyandotte eggs so assuming it's Cochin. But may be a mix of some sort that snuck in.
