Cochin Chicks just hatched―B,B or S?

These little fuzzy frizzle butts are just a few hours old. I'm guessing that the two darker ones are black, but I'm not sure about the others.What do you think?

The light ones will probably be splash. In a few days when they get those tiny wing feathers you'll be able to see it. The black usually have a white feather or two- but mostly black. I have one like yours that's kind of in the middle- but I think she'll be splash too.

Splash would be great! I forgot to mention that one of the parents is a very light blue. The eggs came from jubal379 on eBay. Here she is:

How old do the chicks need to be before you can tell if they are going to be frizzle or not?

I just bought two last weekend. They are 3 months old and very frizzled. But, I have two younger ones that are 6 weeks old with only a couple frizzled feathers on their wings.

Hmmm looks like 3 splash and 2 mottled? to me? No mottled in the mix? Because my mottled chicks looked like those two with the black and white. The black chick was mostly black with just a tiny bit of white. The splash was kind of a dirty color. Hmmm let me find the pic...

Usually you can if they are frizzled by a week or two. The feathers start to curl up pretty fast, or at least mine did.

um, they look defective! no good. pack them up and ship them to me asap. i'll take care of these right away. you should start over immediately.

is it working?

they are way adorable. i think one black, possible (if one is really light) two blue and two splash. if not a really light blue, then three splash.

i still think you should just send them all to me to be checked first hand maybe.....
