But I would select the birds of better quality and size and would return to the mother or to a large cochim (this does not have a good standard) and thus select the chicks by the size and racial pattern

This can be accomplished though it will take time and patience. If you are unable to artificially inseminate your birds then you will need to mate large fowl cochin males to the largest bantam females you have, this will produce a mid-sized cochin which will carry both large and bantam genetics. Depending on the quality of your large fowl (if they are good) then I would mate the off-spring to the large to improve size quickly, if the large fowl are not of good quality then mate the F1 progeny together, using only the largest and best typed birds and so on and so forth until you have achieved the written standard for large cochins. I have bred large and bantam cochins for more than 20 years and can say they are a challenge from a breeding and conditioning standpoint but they are well worth the effort if one is willing to accept the challenge.

Best wishes in your endeavor, feel free to contact me with further questions.

where I live has no large fowl cochi with standard features of the breed, I could create a large fowl cochim from bantam cochin, doing cross between them, and selecting?
I’m not sure how you would do that, because Cochin bantams (Pekins over here) are True bantams. Which means they are not a small version of any other breed despite the name. They were brought back from China to Britain where they were called the Pekin. But from then on I don’t know how the Americans got Cochin bantam from that because they aren’t related to Cochins in any way.

Where I’m from we don’t have bantam Cochins , I breed large fowl Cochins myself , I know nothing of the bantam Cochins (are they anyway similar to a pekin?)

I would think the standards if it is what we call a pekin or similar type is completely different (I’m learning so I could be completely wrong ). What colour are you wanting as standard in the large fowl?
Yeah Cochin bantams is what Most Americans call Pekin bantams.

Do not worry about mating blacks to blues. It will have a deleterious effect on the blues causing them to be rusty due to red leakage from the blacks but I have bred them together for decades and my blacks are always nicely colored and have an excellent green sheen. Also, breeding blue to blue over time will result in lighter colored blues that do not meet the standard color description so you'll have to breed to blacks on occasion to keep the blue color up to standard. In doing this you'll need to ensure the blacks used do not carry a red gene which is suppressed by the black. Generally, I will use the dull black (little or no green sheen), yellow legged blacks to breed to blues as this cross tends to result in blue males of better color and no red leakage.
My experience, others may have had other results.

Blessings,

Bo
