I have a 3 and half month old cockerel, half ameraucana and half frizzled cochin (the bird is not frizzled though). All the signs but two indicate that it is a rooster. Large comb, pointed hackles, thick legs, small spurs, and he is much larger than his frizzled sister. The two rooster signs that I'm not sure about are the saddle feathers, which are not very pointed but somewhat dull at the edges and the tail is not very curved.
I heard that cochin feathers, especially saddle feathers, are different from other roos. Is this true, is this because he is half cochin that he doesen't have sharply pointed saddles or curved tail?
Here is a picture of his saddle feathers.
